Saint John the Baptist Church held a Saint Andrew's Dinner October 20th, 2010 for men from middle-school to adulthood. Parents and friends were also invited to attend. His Eminence Cardinal Sean O’Malley attended. The evening began with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Evening Prayer followed by a full-course dinner in the parish hall. Cardinal Sean spoke along with seminarians from Saint John’s Seminary and Blessed Pope John the 23rd Seminary. Each year the Knights of Columbus Council 202 holds an annual basketball free throw competition.This is a qualifier for the district, regional, and state competitions. All children between the ages of 10 and 14 are eligible to compete. The First Annual Trivia Night at Saint John the Baptist Church brought together about forty people divided into seven teams. Each team was named after a particular saint. There were about 150 questions asked. All funds raised were to be used for the repair of the rectory garage which the Knight of Columbus Council 202 has pledged to fix. The event raised about $220.00, enough for the repairs needed. | On September 20th 2010, St John the Baptist Church in Haverhill held it's 2nd annual Dinner Dance at the Bradford Country Club. Thank you all who made our Saint John the Baptist Dinner Dance a tremendous success. Over 200 people attended and more than $2600.00 was raised for the parish. It was a beutiful evening filled with fun and entertainment. On Thursday, June 25th 2009, Council 202 held a Social Gathering at the American Legion Post in Haverhill. All of the Knights, their wives, and invited guests brought something to eat and it was a spectacular time. There were over forty people in attendance and the atmosphere was filled with love and fraternity. There was Karaoke and everyone took part (yes, even Deacon Tom). It was a time to relax and enjoy everyone's company: GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS, AND GOOD MUSIC (ha ha). | October 5th was Pro-Life Sunday. At Saint John the Baptist Church in Haverhill, there was a procession to the Statue of Mary after the Family Mass. All the children were invited to lay roses at the feet of Mary. A Hail Mary Prayer was then recited. There were over 150 parishoners present for the event. The Knights of Columbus Council 202 provided the roses. |
