The Living Last Supper

On April 16th, 2011 several members of Council 202 participated in The Living Last Supper that was presented at Saint John the Baptist Parish in Haverhill. The scene took place in an upper room in Jerusalem the night before Christ was crucified. Jesus and the twelve apostles were eating their last supper together before Jesus' death.

In 1491 Leonardo da Vinci was commissioned to decorate the wall of the church of Santa Maria Della Grazie in Milan, Italy.  The painting shows Jesus partaking of the Passover meal with His disciples just before His arrest and crucifixion.

Davinci was one of history's most astonishing interpreters of the Christian faith.  The scene presented above is patterned after his painting "The Last Supper."  All the pictures which preceded his seem mere attemps - all that followed imitations.  for Da Vinci has trulycaptured an electric moment which took place at this Supper.
