Council 202 again donated $300.00 to fund our Families In Need Fund this Christmas season. One family from each of the three parishes we represent was sponsored and were given gift certificates for food and presents. Thank goes out to Brother Knight Bob Johnson for organizing this worthwhile project. Council 202 Officer Nominees
Nominations of officers for Fraternal year 2011 - 2012 were made at our monthly meeting on May 15. Additional nominees will be made at our next meeting scheduled for June 16. The following nominations were made and seconded.
4th Degree Council 202 members become officers in the Father James O'Dohorty Assembly 391 ![]() The following council 202 members were selected for Fraternal year 2011 - 2012: Robert J. Conrad - Faithful Navigator Robert C. Woitkowski - Faithful Purser The Fourth Degree is the highest degree of the order. Members of this degree are addressed as "Sir Knight". The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism and to encourage active Catholic citizenship. Assemblies are distinct from councils and are led by a separate set of elected officers. The Supreme Board of Directors appoints a Supreme Master and twenty Vice Supreme Masters to govern the Fourth Degree. Haverhill, MA. – January 20, 2011, Knights of Columbus Bishop Minihan Council 202 in Haverhill received the Knights of Columbus international organization’s distinguished Star Council Award for the fraternal year 2009 -2010. The Star Council Award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and accomplishing a minimum of four service-oriented program activities involving Church, Community, Council, Family and Youth Activities. There are over 14000 councils in the Knights of Columbus worldwide and less than 3% of them achieve this distinguished Star Council award. Conrad, Past Grand Knight and council members on January 20, 2011 in the St. George’s room of All Saints Parish, in Haverhill, MA. Council 202 Saves St John's Parish over $2,700 in Garage Repairs
The Bishop Minihan Council 202 repaired the garage at St. John the Baptist Parish in Haverhill, MA last September 2009. Seven council members participated in the project for a total of 113 hours. The garage required replacing 24 feet of building sill, 50 feet of T- 111 on the bottom, scrape the building, repair the garage door and paint the building. The council spent a little over $300.00 and received over $400.00 in donations. The total cost if done by a contractor would have cost at least $3036.00 and the council saved the parish approximately $2723.00. The council raised $200.00 of the council’s cost by conducting a Religious Trivial night at St. John the Baptist Parish. | Tootsie Roll Drive for 2011 Thank you all who came out and helped with our annual Tootsie Roll Drive to benefit disabled children. Our council raised over $1,500 for the state charity fund. Elevator Project ![]() Robert Conrad, Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Bishop Minihan Council 202 of Haverhill, MA assisted a Haverhill family in purchasing and installing a wheel chair elevator lift for their 8 year old child that was born with Dandy Walker Syndrome and Cerebal Palsy. The outside wheel chair lift was necessary since the front and back doors of the house are ten steps to their deck. The land around the house is flat and was not suitable to install a ramp to the five-foot height of the deck. This elevator has been a God sent during this winter for the family and small childcare helpers in getting the child up to the house doors. $750.00 to Donated to Needy Families ![]() Council 202 donated over $750.00 to needy families in Haverhill for the Christmas season. On Friday, March 27th, Brother Knights from all over the state gathered at the "Roma Restaraunt" in Haverhill Massachusetts for a Friendship Dinner in honor of District Deputy Robert Conrad. ALL STATE OFFICERS were in attendance along with a crowd of over forty people representing various councils, including COUNCIL 202. The evening was spledid as Brother Knight Bob raised money for his Hospitality Suite at the State Convention in May. Bob is campaigning for a State Deligate position to the National Covention. Council 202 made a donation of $200.00 to Bob's effort along with sending five of itsmembers to the dinner. | Annual Dues for 2012

In Memoriam Wife of Brother Knight Bill Henderson My Brothers in Christ, It is with great sadness that I announce that Brother Knight Bill Henderson’s wife has passed away. Bill and his wife have been great supporters of the Knights and of the Catholic Church. They have lived a beautiful life together and now she is resting in the cradle of Christ’s arms. Grand Knight Deacon Tom Anthony In Memoriam Wilfred Corr, 79 ![]() HAVERHILL — Mr. Wilfred "Earl" Corr, 79, of Bradford, died Saturday morning, March 19, 2011 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a valiant battle with cancer. He was born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, May 27, 1931 son of the late Bennett and Bertha (Smith) Corr. Earl was educated in Prince Edward Island and was a graduate of Kinkora High School. After his marriage in 1956, he came to Massachusetts. He was formerly employed by A.H. Dugrenier, and prior to his retirement worked as a truck driver for over 30 years for Haverhill-Lawrence Trucking, Coles Express, and Yellow Freight. After his retirement, he was employed for 15 years by the Linwood Cemetery. Earl was a member of Sacred Heart's Church, The Crescent Yacht Club, The Knights of Columbus, The Haverhill Elks Club BPOE 87, The Bradford Athletic Club, and The Lawrence British Club. His survivors include his wife of 54 years, Lorraine F. (Shea) Corr of Bradford; five children, Earl D. and his wife Connie Corr of Bradford, Ann B. Wholley of Bradford, Linda L. and her husband Dana Fields of Haverhill, Lisa M. Corr of Haverhill and Russell J. Corr of Haverhill; one brother, Maurice and his wife Hazel Corr of Prince Edward Island; sister, Mary and her husband Edward Illott of Prince Edward Island, and sister, Elaine Hughes of Ontario and his seven grandchildren, Sean, Patrick, and Christopher Corr, Christina and Kevin Thibault, Leanne Wholley, Dana Fields and many nieces and nephews. Council 202 will be installing two Pro-Life memorial stones at Saint James Church and the other at Saint John the Baptist Church in Haverhill, Mass $200 donation to Saint Joseph's School ![]() Council 202 is proud to announce a $200.00 donation to Saint Joseph's School in 2010 to fund our annual education award for outstanding Catholic youth at the school I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Brother Knights who helped make the First Annual Saint James Cookout a resounding success at Saint james Church july 17th. Over 75 people attended. We also sponsored a Blood Drive at Saint James school which collected over 26 pints of nuch needed blood. Thank one and all ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Deacon Tom |
